First common thought about AT: The only animals being tested are rats.
False. Animals being tested are mice, rats, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, frogs, etc.
Second common thought about AT: The animals being tested are not harmed and do not suffer or die.
Again, false. Chemicals, skin care, and make up are all tested on animals rather than humans for "safety reasons" and these products tested on animals can cause horrid diseases or conditions. Animals can at the most die, are forced to inhale toxins, can be burned from whatever trial product, blindness, broken bones, are deprived of water and food for days, are held down by restraints, etc.
Third common thought about AT: if we don't test on animals, who can we test on?
Well first of all, animals do not have the same genetic make up as humans. We thought we found a cure for cancer, because it worked on a rat. But because we have different genetic make ups and DNA, this cure did not work for humans. Another example is the arthritis drug Vioxx. It was protective to the hearts of mice, but when released to the public, it caused more than 27,000 heart attacks and cardiac arrest deaths before being pulled from the shelf. There is also a new innovative way to test products not on animals or on humans. It's called in vitro. With in vitro we're able to test human genetics and DNA in a petri dish to see how it reacts. It costs more and is a slower process.
Fourth common thought about AT: well their just animals. they aren't humans.
So just because they aren't humans makes it okay for them to be torchured?

No. It's not
Lets talk about the brands we see advertised everyday.
This may really shock you.
MAC Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Benefit Cosmetics, Clinique, Guerlain, Lancome, Mary Kay, Maybelline, Michael Kors, Neutrogena, Olay, Revlon, Stila Cosmetics, Tom Ford, etc.
These brands are ALL tested on animals.
So, when you create millions of products that are sold around the country/world, and you advertise it, why can't you advertise the harm you are creating too? Is that bad for business?
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Until today I was completely unaware of the amount of companies that test on animals. They know it does not benefit humans for reasons I have explained, so do these people just enjoy messing with animals?
I am going to be 100% honest. I am truly disgusted and disappointed. Especially with the higher end make up. You sell expensive products to the public, but you can not invest in in vitro? You clearly have the money for it. Which is my next point.
The selfishness and greed.
I understand you start a business to make money. But when you put innocent animals at risk for your greed I have no respect for you. If you think animals do not have feelings or are not able to feel what you are doing to them, you are wrong. You are wrong in so many ways and I am disappointed in myself too for not researching the brands I have paid for things from. But let this be a lesson to everyone, before you buy, you need to research. YouTube has TONS of reviews, so why don't we research where our product is made, where its been, etc. We need to know what we are putting on our face. Remember, what works on a lab animal does not always work on humans.
